Our Solution

What We Do

Comphya patented technology is based on neuroprosthetics expertise, and consist of implanting a neuro-stimulator in the pelvic cavity, which will selectively activate the nerve to trigger penile erection. The device will provide self-controlled stimulation (via a wireless remote control) to the cavernous nerve to restore natural erectile function. This envisioned medical device will provide a painless, safer, easier, comfortable and more effective alternative.

Our innovation has a key element which can overcome a major barrier for the therapy, the complex anatomy of the neural path for erection, and it can guarantee the identification of the site for stimulation within the pelvic cavity. This concept has been proven in an acute clinical trial (J Sex Med. 2018 Nov;15(11):1558-1569, + link to latest news: first publication – proof of concept)

CaverSTIM

CaverSTIM is an active implantable medical device composed of: I) the implantable pulse generator (IPG) connected to II) an electrode paddle, III) external controllers (physician and patient control units), and IV) wireless recharger.

Complete System: Complete CaverSTIM system for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Implantable Pulse Generator (IPG): The IPG is responsible for taking the user program inputs and generating the therapy pulses. It is roughly the size of a small stack of silver dollars and contains electronics inside a hermetic titanium can. The stimulation pulses exit the IPG through four ports in the header that accept stimulation leads. The leads deliver the pulses to the tissue via insulated conductors connected to the electrode paddle.

Electrode Paddle: Electrode paddle is the flexible electrode array placed on the pelvic plexus to precisely stimulate the pro-erectile cavernous nerves and elicit penile erection.

Implantation Site of Electrode Paddles: Implantation site of CaverSTIM electrode paddle for spinal cord injury and prostatectomy patients.

Patient Remote Control: The patient remote control allows the patient to start and stop the therapy. It contains a small graphical LCD screen with backlight for user feedback and four membrane-style buttons for user inputs.

Clinician Programmer: The Clinician Programmer is an application designed to run on a tablet and it is designed to allow the clinician to set up and configure stimulation parameters for the patient.

Implant Charger: The charger is responsible for charging the IPG wirelessly after the implantation and for the remainder of its operating life.
